Asian Clubs Championship postponed; federation issues transfer warning

The Asian Handball Federation has postponed the 29th Asian Club Championship, originally slated for November, after Uzbekistan withdrew its bid to host the tournament. The federation is now in the process of selecting a new host country and will announce a revised schedule, with a possibility of the competition taking place in August if a suitable replacement host emerges.

In parallel, the federation has issued a stern circular to all member associations, emphasizing the critical need for strict compliance with regulations governing domestic player transfers. It warned against proceeding with internal transfers without official notification and adherence to approved procedures through the correct channels.

The federation noted in an official letter dated June 22, 2026, that some associations have improperly handled internal player transfers, a practice deemed a violation of Asian Handball Federation rules. Such breaches, including unregistered transfers, will be subject to penalties under the disciplinary regulations of both the Asian and International Handball Federations, potentially impacting national federations, clubs, and individual players.
