Asian Games forwards Yang Hyun-jun and Lee Young-jun both score for their clubs

Yang Hyun-jun and Lee Young-jun, forwards expected to represent South Korea at the Asian Games, both scored for their clubs on September 3.

Yang, a Celtic player and an Asian Games wild-card selection, struck in first-half stoppage time during Celtic’s 3-0 home win over Aberdeen in the fifth round of the 2026-27 Scottish Premiership. Leading 2-0, Celtic saw Yang make a powerful run before meeting a teammate’s cross with a precise left-foot shot into the corner.

The goal was Yang’s first of the official season, ending a six-match wait. He has started all four of Celtic’s league matches and came off in the 74th minute. Celtic manager Martin O’Neill said on the club’s website that Yang, who is due to play at the Asian Games, was gaining strong confidence with the team.

Lee also came off the bench to score in St. Gallen’s 2-0 home victory over St. Gallen’s opponent at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium. He entered in the 65th minute, with his team leading 1-0, and found the net nine minutes later with a close-range right-foot shot from near the end line of the opposing penalty area.

The goal was Lee’s third of the season and his second in consecutive matches. Yang and Lee are scheduled to join the South Korea under-23 Asian Games squad, coached by Lee Min-sung, in Japan on September 7.
