Astana Police Increase Alertness for International Sporting Event

Astana police are stepping up security and moving to a high-alert status in preparation for a major international sporting event scheduled from July 29 to August 9. The city anticipates the arrival of international delegations, athletes, fans, and tourists, necessitating round-the-clock public order maintenance and crime prevention efforts.

The police department emphasized that officers will be on duty 24 hours a day to ensure citizen safety and prevent crime. A significant focus will be placed on road safety, with comprehensive measures planned to manage traffic flow, avoid congestion, and ensure emergency vehicles can pass unimpeded. Pedestrian safety will also be a priority, and temporary traffic restrictions may be implemented on certain streets around the competition venues.

The "Games of the Future" is described as an international tournament that uniquely blends digital and physical activities. Participants first compete in a digital format using consoles, computers, or mobile devices, and then transition to a physical competition, such as on a football pitch. This innovative format highlights the evolving landscape of sports and entertainment.

This event follows President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's interactive launch of the countdown to the "Games of the Future 2026" in April. The upcoming tournament is projected to attract over 100,000 spectators and "phygital" athletes from across the globe, underscoring Astana's growing role as a host for significant international gatherings.
