Astronomers detect giant 10-sided shape on Saturn

Astronomers have detected a giant 10-sided pattern over Saturn’s south pole, a structure described as larger and less stable than the planet’s famous hexagon.

The pattern had remained hidden for almost six years because of Saturn’s inclination. Its reappearance has drawn attention to a feature that differs from the better-known formation at the planet’s other pole.
