ASV Dachau withdraws from Volleyball Bundesliga

The ASV Volleys Dachau, a team in Germany's Volleyball Bundesliga, has announced its withdrawal from the top league. The club will compete in the 2. Bundesliga next season, a move described as part of a long-term strategy for sustainable development.

The decision was made in close coordination between the volleyball department's leadership and the main club's board. This step follows a thorough analysis of the sporting, economic, and infrastructural conditions at the club's location. Dachau was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2023 and finished twelfth in the past season among 15 teams.

Key factors influencing the decision include the inability to fully secure the budget for the past top-league season. Furthermore, the loss of a main sponsor and a significant reduction in another sponsor's commitment would have severely restricted squad planning for the Bundesliga level.

Despite the temporary step back, the club maintains its ambition to return to the Bundesliga and establish a long-term presence. "We are taking one step back to move two steps forward. This decision was not easy, but it is the right one," said Denis Werner, head of the ASV Dachau volleyball department.

The team plans to build its new squad with an emphasis on Dachau and regional players, supplemented by key performers from the current first-league team. The goal is a sustainable rebuilding process that positions the ASV Volleys for future success, both athletically and economically.
