At Asean Regional Forum, Dar highlights key challenges threatening global stability

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has drawn international attention to critical issues threatening global peace and stability during a summit in the Philippines. Speaking at the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila, Dar highlighted eight significant challenges that he believes hinder peaceful coexistence and prosperity. The forum convened foreign ministers and delegates from 27 member states, a gathering taking place against the backdrop of escalating conflict between the United States and Iran. This regional tension is a significant concern for the 11-member ASEAN bloc, whose substantial economy, with a combined GDP of approximately $3.8 trillion, is heavily dependent on Middle Eastern oil supplies. Dar stressed that any delay in confronting these global challenges would undermine collective efforts to achieve peace and stability. He specifically noted the ongoing failure to resolve long-standing disputes in South Asia, urging prompt action to prevent further erosion of regional and global security. Dar's remarks underscore Pakistan's active role in international diplomacy and its focus on addressing complex geopolitical issues.
