Athens Airport: 15.75 million passengers in first half of 2026

Athens International Airport experienced a notable increase in passenger traffic during June 2026, handling 3.51 million passengers. This represents a 1.7% rise compared to June 2025, despite a volatile geopolitical environment.

Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2025 levels, with domestic traffic up by 2.3% and international traffic by 1.5%. This positive trend continued throughout the first half of 2026.

Cumulatively, the first six months of 2026 saw 15.75 million passengers pass through the airport, marking a significant 4.5% increase over the first half of 2025. Domestic traffic grew by 5.1% and international traffic by 4.2% during this period.

The airport also recorded a rise in flight movements. In the first half of 2026, there were 132,933 flights, a 3.9% increase compared to the previous year. Both domestic and international flights saw growth, up by 4.7% and 3.3% respectively.
