Atlético Accuses Barcelona of Deception in Julián Álvarez Transfer Saga

The transfer saga surrounding Julián Álvarez has escalated dramatically, with Atlético de Madrid's CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, directly accusing FC Barcelona of acting with "falsehood" and definitively ruling out any negotiations for the Argentine striker. Gil Marín expressed that Álvarez is "really upset because there have been people who have set out to deceive and confuse him."

The Atlético executive asserted that the attacker is "completely confused" and experiencing "a very, very difficult situation on a personal and professional level." Álvarez recently missed two training sessions due to illness, following his return to the pitch last Sunday against Villarreal, where he was met with whistles from the home crowd.

Gil Marín emphasized Atlético de Madrid's intention to retain the World Cup winner, who is under contract until June 30, 2030, with a release clause set at 500 million euros. "Our intention, and my personal dream, is for him to stay with us. To compete with the big teams, you need big players," he stated.

However, Gil Marín did leave the door open to evaluating an exit if the player himself deems his continuity incompatible with his current situation. He firmly established an absolute limit: "If he were to reach the conclusion that being in Madrid and Atlético de Madrid is incompatible, we would look for an alternative, but it would never be Barcelona." The CEO also reacted strongly to recent statements by Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who claimed the offer for Álvarez remained valid. "We are disgusted by the falsehood, the lack of ethics, and the lack of transparency. We will not negotiate with Barcelona under any circumstances," Gil Marín declared, adding that this stance is final as long as he holds his position.
