Atletico Madrid Signs Tottenham Captain Cristian Romero

Atletico Madrid has announced the signing of Tottenham Hotspur's captain, Cristian Romero, securing the Argentine defender on a contract extending until June 2031. The Spanish club confirmed the transfer, marking a new chapter for the 28-year-old center-back after five seasons with the North London team.

Although the clubs have not officially revealed the transfer fee, reports from the English press indicate that Atletico Madrid will pay Tottenham approximately 40 million Euros. This figure has yet to be officially confirmed by either club.

Romero bid farewell to Tottenham in a message released the day before the transfer announcement, expressing pride and gratitude for his time with the club. He joined Tottenham on loan from Atalanta in 2021, with the English club later making the transfer permanent.
