ATP Bastad: Top two seeds reach final

The ATP Bastad tournament is set for a final showdown between its top two seeds, Andrey Rublev and Luciano Darderi. Both players secured their spots in the championship match after hard-fought semifinal victories.

Luciano Darderi, the 24-year-old Italian who won the Umag tournament last year, continued his strong clay-court performance. He defeated Paraguay's Daniel Vallejo in the first semifinal with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (11), 6-3. This victory marks Darderi's seventh career ATP final appearance, all of which have been on clay. He has won five titles previously and will be competing in his third final of the current year, having triumphed in Santiago and reached the final in Buenos Aires earlier in February.

On the other side of the draw, Andrey Rublev, the 28-year-old Russian, overcame the tournament's third seed, Alejandro Tabilo of Chile. Rublev won the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, advancing to his 30th career final. While Rublev has secured 17 titles to date, his last victory was in Doha at the beginning of last year. His only final appearance this year resulted in a loss to Arthur Fils in Barcelona.

The final is scheduled for July 18, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. The match promises an exciting contest between two of the tour's top players vying for the Bastad title.
