Attack on Titan: The 2,000-Year History of the Founding Titan Before Eren Yeager

The Founding Titan stands as the most formidable power within the world of Attack on Titan, granting its wielder control over other Titans and the ability to manipulate the memories of the Eldian people. This power also connects all living beings through the mysterious Paths.

Approximately 2,000 years before the main events, Ymir Fritz became the first Founding Titan. Under King Fritz, her power was weaponized for war and the expansion of the Eldian empire. Even after her death, Ymir's essence persisted in the Paths, continuing to create Titans according to the king's will until Eren Yeager recognized her humanity and right to choose.

Later, King Karl Fritz moved his people to Paradis Island, erected three colossal walls, and erased the inhabitants' memories. Believing Eldians should face consequences for their past, he chose not to retaliate against Marley, a decision that influenced subsequent Founding Titan inheritors and prolonged decades of tragedy.

The Reiss family, including Uri Reiss and Frieda Reiss, inherited the power but struggled against the first king's will. Frieda, despite her desire to protect humanity, ultimately followed Karl Fritz's path before Grisha Yeager seized the Founding Titan. Grisha, an Eldian from Marley, infiltrated Paradis and took the power from the Reiss family, passing it to his son, Eren Yeager. It was later revealed that Eren's future self influenced many of Grisha's decisions, creating a unique causal loop.

Eren Yeager ultimately became the central figure, wielding the Founding Titan and bringing about the end of the Titan era, fundamentally altering the course of history.
