Attacks on Kyiv Continue for a Ninth Straight Night

Russian attacks have struck Kyiv for the ninth night in a row. Four people were killed overnight in an attack outside the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, according to the regional governor.

Russian drones also targeted the capital, Kyiv Independent reported. East of the city, two women were injured after the top floor of an apartment building caught fire. Authorities had not provided further figures for casualties in Kyiv at the time of the report. More than 50 people have been killed and 100 injured in the city over the past week and a half, the live update said.

The report also carried a series of other international updates. In Bolivia, at least 10 people died and more than 60 were injured in an explosion at a military facility in Viacha. Many of the injured were civilians. Local authorities said pyrotechnic material had been stored in the area, but the cause remained under investigation. Several homes were damaged.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would not attend the funeral of Norway’s King Harald in Oslo on Sept. 9. Instead, Trump said on Truth Social that he would attend both days of the Republican Party convention in Dallas, held on Sept. 9 and 10 ahead of the midterm elections. “We will celebrate this great and unprecedented success,” he wrote. Norway’s royal family and other royals and heads of state are expected at the funeral. King Harald died on Aug. 28, aged 89.

In another update, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least three people were killed and 27 injured in Israeli attacks in southern and eastern Lebanon. Israel’s military described the strikes as a response to Hezbollah’s alleged use of drones against Israeli forces in the so-called security zone in southern Lebanon. The live report also noted that the U.N. General Assembly had backed a resolution supporting a new Equal Earth world map, which depicts Africa as larger and Europe and North America as smaller than on many traditional maps.
