Audio reveals mother's message to detained man about daughter's disappearance

A newly revealed audio recording features Agostina Vega's mother, Melisa Heredia, speaking to Osvaldo Fassetta, a man detained who lived at Claudio Barrelier's residence. In the message, sent shortly after the teenager's disappearance, Heredia asserts that Barrelier was the last person to see Agostina.

"No one else saw her, fatty, he was the only one who saw her, no one else saw her, not even her friends, nothing," Heredia stated in the audio, which was broadcast by local outlet El Doce TV. She also mentioned that Agostina had told her friends she was going to her mother's "boyfriend's" house, indicating Barrelier. Heredia added, "She told her friends she was going to my boyfriend's house. Obviously, it's him. To give me a surprise gift. When I realized my daughter wasn't there, I called her, and then it was turned off." Agostina had been missing since 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.

The audio recording intensifies scrutiny on the relationship between Barrelier and Heredia. Agostina's description of Barrelier as her mother's "boyfriend" contradicts Heredia's public statements that their relationship had ended years prior, and they were merely friends. The message also corroborates aspects of Fassetta's account. Fassetta, 47, who lived in the room where investigators believe the crime occurred at Barrelier's house in the Cofico neighborhood, is currently charged with aggravated concealment.

Fassetta had previously claimed that Heredia messaged him on the night of Agostina's disappearance, informing him of the situation. He stated that he then went to Heredia's house to help search with family and neighbors. Barrelier became the primary suspect nearly a week after Agostina vanished when evidence emerged that she had taken a taxi to his home and was never seen leaving on security cameras. Barrelier initially told Heredia that Agostina had left his house in a red car. However, later, police dome camera footage showed Barrelier driving to a vacant lot in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood, where Agostina's remains were later discovered. He had borrowed the car from a former partner, Soledad Andreani.
