Aurora beat Real Potosí 1-0 in match that ended with trouble on the field

Aurora moved to the top of Copa Bolivia’s Group A after beating Real Potosí 1-0 in a match that ended amid arguments, pushing and protests on the field.

The winning goal came from a penalty awarded after a VAR review. Referee Ramiro Ticona said Saúl Severiche had committed “a reckless foul” on Ronald Sácnhez. Eight minutes passed between the review and the kick, as the referee also examined whether the ball had gone out of play in the preceding action.

Alan Terrazas converted in the 63rd minute with a low shot to goalkeeper Daniel Sandy’s left. Sandy guessed the direction but could not reach the ball. Real Potosí had defended in an organised formation, at times using five players to block Aurora’s attacks.

The match’s decisive controversy came in the sixth minute of added time. Luis Alí fell in the area during an incident involving Aurora’s Julián Velásquez, and the visiting players immediately demanded a penalty. Substitutes and members of both coaching staffs entered the field as players exchanged insults and pushed one another.

The stoppage lasted until the 103rd minute, when Ticona ended the game. Aurora had also seen a first-half goal from Colombia’s Michael Rangel ruled out for offside. Real Potosí remained third with three points from two matches and still had a postponed game against Nacional Potosí.
