Australian arrested in Thailand with teenager's body in suitcase

Thai police arrested an Australian man at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday evening after discovering the body of a 17-year-old girl in a suitcase. The 46-year-old suspect, who denies any involvement in the teenager's alleged abduction and murder, was taken into custody following an interrogation.

Authorities are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination and other evidence before formally filing charges. These could include child abduction, murder, hiding a corpse, and abduction of a minor for sexual purposes, according to a police official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Reports indicate the suspect was apprehended as he attempted to purchase a flight to Perth, Australia. CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspect entering a condominium in the resort city of Pattaya with the Thai girl early Thursday. He was later seen leaving with a large black suitcase, which he transported on a motorbike. Police located the suitcase near a railway track on Friday, finding the victim's body inside with signs of violence.
