Australian influencer whose face changed after surgery in Korea: 'Even my iPhone doesn't recognize me'

An Australian influencer has shared her unusual experience of being unable to unlock her iPhone after undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure in South Korea. Ruby Tuesday Matthews, a model and influencer, revealed that the swelling from her endoscopic facelift was so severe that her phone's Face ID function could no longer recognize her face.

Matthews, 33, had the procedure at a plastic surgery clinic in Seoul on the 21st. The surgery, which lasted approximately four hours, resulted in significant swelling and bruising on her face. The following morning, she discovered that her iPhone's facial recognition system, Face ID, failed to identify her, leaving her unable to access various services.

With numerous applications, including banking and messaging, secured by facial recognition, Matthews found herself locked out of her phone. In a bid to regain access, she eventually had to visit an Apple Store in Seoul, reportedly in her pajamas, to reset the device. The incident highlights an unexpected consequence of the cosmetic procedure, impacting her daily digital interactions.
