Azerbaijan's Sabah FC reaches Champions League for the first time

Azerbaijan's football club Sabah has achieved a historic milestone, qualifying for the main stage of the Champions League for the first time. The team secured their place after a thrilling 5-2 overtime victory against Israel's Hapoel, overcoming a 1-2 deficit from the first leg.

Sabah demonstrated remarkable resilience, coming back from behind twice in the match. They managed to take the lead in the dying seconds of regular time, leveling the aggregate score at 4-4. Playing with a man down in extra time, the Azerbaijani champions ultimately withstood Hapoel's pressure, conceding two more goals to seal their historic win.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Sabah, as they will now compete among 36 teams in Europe's premier club competition. Meanwhile, Hapoel will transition to the Europa League. Sabah joins a prestigious list of clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid, who have already secured their spots in the main tournament.
