Baba Wali Wins Yobe APC Governorship Primary Election

In Yobe State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its governorship primary, with former Secretary to the State Government, Baba Wali, emerging as the party's flagbearer. The election, held in Damaturu, saw Wali secure a decisive victory with 236,711 votes, significantly outpacing his closest rival, Abubakar Kagu, who garnered 9,748 votes. Other aspirants, including Bashir Machina, also participated in the primary.

Wali, in his acceptance speech, extended gratitude to key party figures, including Governor Mai Buni and former Governor Ibrahim Geidam, acknowledging their support. He extended an olive branch to his opponents, calling for unity and cooperation to advance the state's socioeconomic development. His commitment to upholding the legacy projects initiated by the previous administrations underscores a focus on continuity and stability.

That Baba Malam Wali, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and returned elected as the party’s governorship candidate for Yobe.

The newly elected candidate expressed confidence in the APC's prospects for the 2027 general elections, vowing to work towards ensuring the victory of all party candidates. This primary marks a significant step in the APC's preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle in Yobe State, setting the stage for the general elections.
