Badminton World Championships: Lin Chun-yi Faces Malaysian Opponent, 'Lin-Chieh' Pair Expected Late

The World Badminton Championships are underway, featuring a strong contingent of 15 Taiwanese participants across various categories. The second day of the tournament is set to showcase several key matches, with notable players like Lin Chun-yi, Chiu Pin-chien, and Lin Hsiang-ti scheduled to compete in singles.

Lin Chun-yi, known for his powerful left-handed play, is slated to face Malaysian opponent Hee Yong Kai in the afternoon. This will be their second encounter, with Hee Yong Kai having won their previous match. In women's singles, top player Chiu Pin-chien will challenge seeded player Li Wenshan of Canada, ranked 13th, whom she has lost to in all three previous meetings. Lin Hsiang-ti, ranked 17th, is set to play against France's Anya Tatranova, ranked 98th.

In the doubles events, the top-seeded men's doubles pair Wang Chi-lin and Lee Yang will begin their campaign from the round of 32. They are scheduled to play late at night against the Japanese duo of Takumi Nakamura and Shogo Kumagaya, who previously defeated Taiwanese pair Lee Fang-jen and Lee Fang-tzu. Another women's doubles pair, Hung En-tzu and Hsieh Pei-shan, will also be in action.

Taiwanese mixed doubles team Wu Guan-soon and Lee Chia-hsin, unseeded, will start from the first round against Spain's Rubén García and Lucía Rodríguez. Meanwhile, the women's doubles pair Yang Ching-tun and Chang Ching-hui, who advanced on the first day, will compete for a spot in the round of 16 against their compatriots Hsu Yin-chi and Lin Tzu-yun.
