Bahamas dominate Panama in World Cup qualifying win in Nassau

Panama went to Nassau looking for a positive result, but the Bahamas controlled the game from the opening quarter and secured a 100-82 victory at the Sir Kendall Isaacs Gymnasium.

The Bahamas established its advantage early, winning the first quarter 27-17. It added another eight points to the lead in the second period, which ended 25-17, and took an 18-point advantage into halftime.

Panama tried to respond after the break, but the hosts continued to dictate the game. The Bahamas won the third quarter 28-23 and then closed out the result with a 20-15 final period.

V.J. Edgecombe Jr. led the Bahamian attack with 25 points. Kai Jones collected 11 rebounds, while Franco Miller provided seven assists. Ricardo Lindo was Panama's top scorer with 20 points. Luis Rodríguez Jr. added 10 rebounds, and Trevor Gaskins finished with four assists.

The team statistics reflected the Bahamas' control. It made 49 field goals to Panama's 43 and won the rebounding battle 43-38. The Bahamas also grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, recorded 20 assists to Panama's 10, and led in steals, 5-3, and blocks, 7-3. Panama committed 12 turnovers, three more than its opponent, although it was called for fewer fouls, 11 compared with 18 for the Bahamas.
