Bahçeli gifts Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş table after 'framework law' passage

Turkey's Grand National Assembly has passed a 12-article 'framework law' aimed at fostering a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' a legislative initiative by the ruling coalition. The bill's passage in the General Assembly marked a significant step in the government's broader 'solution process.'

Following the legislative success, Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), presented a unique gift to Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. The present was a custom-designed table adorned with classical motifs, featuring a relief of the Grand National Assembly building and its emblem. A plaque on the table bore the inscription "The Power of Unity, the Decision of National Will." It also included a personal message: "To the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, I respectfully present my congratulations and thanks."

The date "10.08.2026" was also inscribed on the gift. Sources indicated that Bahçeli intended the table as a token of appreciation for Kurtulmuş's efforts, particularly his work within the new 'solution process.' Kurtulmuş reportedly contacted Bahçeli by phone to express his gratitude for the gift and his support for the 'Terror-Free Turkey' initiative.
