Bakersfield Chase Bank Locked Down Amid Hostage Situation and Bomb Threats

A tense standoff is unfolding at a Chase Bank in Bakersfield, California, where a man has barricaded himself inside with hostages, making bomb threats. The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed the situation Tuesday afternoon, with officers responding to the bank around 1 p.m.

The suspect reportedly has a device strapped to his body, prompting a large-scale response. SWAT, the bomb squad, crisis negotiators, a drone team, K9 units, and federal partners, including the FBI, are on scene. The FBI Sacramento office stated they are sending resources to assist local authorities.
