Bakken Bears Win 10th Straight Danish Championship, Tie Record

The Bakken Bears have once again proven their dominance in Danish basketball, clinching their tenth consecutive championship title. The Aarhus-based team secured the victory on Monday evening by winning the fourth game of the finals series against Team FOG Næstved with a score of 87-81.

This remarkable achievement marks the tenth championship in a row for the Bakken Bears, equaling a record for the most consecutive titles in Denmark's major traditional team sports. This includes football, handball, ice hockey, and volleyball. The only other team to have achieved this feat is Holte's men's volleyball team, which won ten titles consecutively from 1986 to 1995.

Even when considering team championships in sports like tennis, badminton, and table tennis, Bakken Bears' streak matches the record. The Virum-Sorgenfri men's table tennis team also won ten consecutive titles between 1968 and 1977.

In the current finals series, Bakken Bears initially faced a setback, losing the first game to Team FOG Næstved in overtime on their home court. However, they rallied to win the next two games, setting up a match point opportunity in the fourth game. Despite a closely contested first half where both teams struggled with shooting percentages, Bakken Bears found their rhythm in the second half, particularly with their three-point shooting. Led by Darko Jukic in the final period, they built a decisive lead that Team FOG Næstved could not overcome.
