Balloon Artistry Blooms into Successful Business Over a Decade

What began as a basic balloon artistry course has flourished into a decade-long thriving business for Gazelle Lezama, the founder of Decor Hut in Trinidad and Tobago. Her custom balloon creations have become a popular sight at various celebrations, including birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and corporate events across the nation.

Lezama shared that she never anticipated a Ministry of Community Development training program would lead her into the event décor industry. "I did a basic balloon artistry course with the Ministry of Community Development, and it was from there that my love for balloon artistry started," she said. Initially, she wasn't passionate about it, but upon realizing her talent, she decided to take a leap of faith and pursue the industry boldly.

Ten years later, Lezama has successfully built a business specializing in custom balloon décor while simultaneously managing a full-time position at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. Decor Hut's offerings include balloon garlands, arches, balloon walls, centerpieces, customized installations, and backdrops for a variety of events. The business also extends its services to event coordination, styling, and backdrop rentals.

She now conducts both one-on-one online and in-person sessions, driven by a passion for creating beautiful event décor and equipping others with the skills to succeed in the industry.
