Balochistan CM warns property owners against aiding terrorists

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has issued a stern warning to owners of private properties, particularly vineyards in Mastung, stating they will be held liable as facilitators if their land is used to launch attacks against security forces or provincial ministers. The announcement came on Friday after Bugti inaugurated digital initiatives at the Central Police Office.

Bugti acknowledged the government's reluctance to take actions that could harm ordinary citizens, noting that terrorists often use civilians as human shields. However, he stressed that property owners cannot feign ignorance if attacks are launched from their premises. "If a security forces’ convoy or the home minister is attacked from a vineyard, the owners cannot say they did not know terrorists were present on their land," he stated.

The chief minister reiterated that vineyard owners have been repeatedly warned. He indicated that if private properties continue to be exploited for terrorism, the government might be forced to consider large-scale relocations or the elimination of vineyards used for such activities. Bugti emphasized the profound value of the lives of Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and police personnel, asserting that the government would not tolerate their martyrdom while private properties facilitated terrorism.

In parallel, Bugti highlighted Balochistan's commitment to digitalization to enhance governance, transparency, and public services. He announced the upgrade of eight existing Balochistan Police apps and the introduction of eight new ones, designed to streamline access to the criminal justice system and facilitate citizen complaints. A dedicated women's safety app allows users to send emergency alerts with a single click. The chief minister also announced an awareness campaign targeting women and travelers, alongside digital services for families of police martyrs and other public facilitation centers.
