Balykchy Cafe Fined 28,000 Som for Wastewater Discharge

The "Oasis" cafe in Balykchy, Kyrgyzstan, has been fined 28,000 Kyrgyz som (approximately $320 USD) after an environmental inspection confirmed alleged wastewater discharge into the surrounding environment. The inspection was prompted by a video circulating on social media and local media outlets, purportedly showing the cafe releasing sewage.

Officials from the State Inspectorate for Ecological and Technical Safety under the Ministry of Natural Resources conducted the check. During their on-site investigation, they verified that the cafe had indeed violated environmental protection laws. Consequently, a report was filed, and an administrative penalty was imposed.

The State Inspectorate reminded the public and businesses that the illegal dumping of wastewater is a serious offense under Kyrgyzstan's environmental legislation, carrying significant administrative consequences. This action highlights the authorities' efforts to enforce environmental regulations and hold businesses accountable for their impact on natural resources.
