Bandits kill 10 and abduct dozens in Sokoto raid

At least 10 people were killed and several others injured when suspected bandits attacked Tofa community in Sokoto State on Sunday night.

The attackers reportedly entered the community and opened fire on residents before abducting dozens of people. Local sources estimated that between 38 and 40 residents were taken, although the number was still being verified.

The assailants also reportedly rustled a large number of livestock and looted other items. The raid renewed concerns about security in parts of Rabah Local Government Area, where residents questioned how armed men were able to attack, abduct people and leave with livestock and valuables without being intercepted.

Sokoto State police spokesman DSP Ahmed Rufai confirmed the incident. He said the command would provide details after compiling its report. The number of casualties and abducted residents had not been independently verified at the time of publication.
