Bandung Man Arrested for Sword Attack Over Small Debt

A man known locally as a thug in Bandung, Indonesia, has been arrested for allegedly attacking a resident with a sword over a debt of just Rp 150,000 (approximately $10 USD). The suspect, identified as RH, 30, reportedly confronted the victim, Rian Permana, 35, and three other individuals early Sunday morning in the Kiaracondong district. Permana sustained slash wounds to his hand and mouth. Police were alerted to the incident after videos of the attack circulated on social media. Responding officers arrived to find the victims injured and the alleged assailant and his accomplices already fled. However, based on information from residents, police quickly located RH, who was hiding at his parents' home. Police Chief Kompol Sumartono stated that the suspect was apprehended within 24 hours, along with the evidence. The motive appears to stem from a dispute over the collection of money from a plastic wardrobe sale, which escalated into a physical altercation. RH is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol during the incident. Police are still searching for two accomplices involved in the assault. RH faces charges of assault and group assault, with a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment.
