Bangla Academy President Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq to be laid to rest today after tributes

Dhaka is set to bid farewell to Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq, the esteemed president of Bangla Academy, who passed away yesterday at the age of 86. The eminent educationist, essayist, and literary critic will be honored through a series of public tributes across the capital before his final burial. Family members confirmed that he breathed his last around 3:30 PM at the National Heart Foundation.

From 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, individuals will have the opportunity to pay their respects at the Bangla Academy premises. Following this, a second tribute session, open to people from all walks of life, will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The final public tribute will take place at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla on the Dhaka University campus, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

His namaz-e-janaza, the funeral prayer, is scheduled to be held after Zuhr prayers at the Dhaka University Central Mosque. Mohammad Azam, director general of Bangla Academy, stated that after the prayers, Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq will be laid to rest at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard.
