Bangladesh police on high alert for possible attacks on vehicles

Police Headquarters has issued a nationwide alert, instructing all police units to strengthen security measures amid intelligence warnings of possible attacks on police vehicles by extremist groups or other miscreants. The directive, sent via an urgent message from the Operations Control Room, highlights the potential targeting of various police vehicles, including jeeps, pickup trucks, and buses.

To prevent such incidents, police units are instructed to ensure that any temporarily halted police vehicle is parked in a secure location under surveillance and never left unattended. Furthermore, enhanced security is mandated for vehicles parked within police stations, office compounds, and police lines after duty hours. Police Headquarters has emphasized the "highly important" nature of these instructions, urging their utmost priority implementation.

Additional IGP (crime and operations) Khondker Rafiqul Islam stated that the directive was issued as a precautionary measure. He explained that the alert is related to potential programs by banned organizations centered around the month of August, necessitating these preventative instructions. The move aims to bolster the safety and security of police personnel and assets across the country.
