Bangladesh prioritizes student learning outcomes over paperwork in primary education

The success of primary education in Bangladesh will be evaluated based on students' actual learning outcomes, moving away from a focus on paperwork and official reports, according to State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj.

Speaking at a training workshop in Rajshahi, Hajjaj emphasized that "actual learning outcomes of students will be the main criterion for the success of primary education." The workshop, organized by the Office of the Deputy Director of Primary Education in Rajshahi Division, aimed to brief field-level officials on current and future reforms. It also sought to gather their long-standing experiences and practical recommendations for enhancing the primary education system.

Hajjaj highlighted ongoing initiatives to enact positive changes in various aspects of primary education. These include improvements in school monitoring, teacher and administrative management, curriculum reform, technology integration, classroom and school infrastructure, and the provision of safe and usable facilities. The government intends to bring all primary schools, not just government-run institutions, under an effective monitoring system.

The minister reiterated the government's commitment to the goals of 'No Child Out of School' and 'Every Child Gets the Right Education.' He assured that the experiences and recommendations of field officials would be a crucial basis for the reform process. The workshop was attended by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Md Yousuf Ali and other local officials.
