Bangladesh protesters demand action over rising costs

Thousands of people marched in Dhaka to protest rising living costs, confronting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s government with its first major demonstrations.

The protesters demanded action over shortages of gas, electricity and fertiliser. The demonstrations focused on the pressure facing households and the availability of essential supplies.
