Bangladesh Scripts History with First Test Win in Australia

Bangladesh has scripted history in Darwin, securing their first-ever Test cricket victory on Australian soil by defeating the hosts by nine wickets. This remarkable achievement came in just their third Test match against Australia, establishing Bangladesh as the fastest Asian team to record a Test win in Australia.

The team surpassed previous records held by Pakistan, who took seven Tests for their first Australian victory, and India, who achieved theirs in twelve matches. Sri Lanka has yet to win a Test in Australia after 15 attempts. This win also marks Bangladesh's second-biggest Test victory by wickets, following their 10-wicket win against Pakistan in 2024.

This triumph in Darwin represents another significant milestone for Bangladesh in Test cricket, being only their second Test victory in a SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) country, the first being against New Zealand in 2022. Furthermore, Bangladesh's victory shattered Australia's long-held home dominance against Asian opposition, a streak that had remained unbroken since 1995, excluding India.
