Barracas Central leads Torneo Clausura after controversial win over Aldosivi

Barracas Central secured a controversial 1-0 victory over Aldosivi in the second round of the Torneo Clausura, propelling them to the top of Group B with six points. The win, however, was overshadowed by several contentious incidents during the match.

Before the game even began, an unusual event occurred when the sprinklers on the field were activated on Aldosivi's attacking side, a move that seemed to disrupt the visiting team's preparations. This pre-match peculiarity set a strange tone for a game that would later feature significant refereeing debates.

The sole goal of the match came in the 39th minute. Following a corner, Tomás Porra passed to Iván Tapia, who returned the ball. Tapia's subsequent shot deflected off a defender and looped towards the goal. Aldosivi's Elías López attempted to clear the ball off the line, but it struck the crossbar and went in, giving Barracas Central the lead.

In the second half, Aldosivi felt they were denied two clear penalties. The first occurred in the 12th minute when Rodrigo Insúa appeared to hold Joaquín Pombo during a corner kick. Later, in the 17th minute, Yonatthan Rak was seen embracing Nicolás Cordero in the box as a corner arrived. In both instances, referee Sebastián Zunino did not award a penalty, and the VAR system did not intervene, much to the frustration of Aldosivi players.

Following the final whistle, Aldosivi players approached Zunino to protest the decisions, leading to a yellow card for Chávez. The defeat leaves Aldosivi in a precarious position regarding relegation, with only a slim margin in the annual standings and currently facing a drop to the Primera Nacional based on the average points table.
