Baseball: Former Fubon slugger hits second China league homer and leads five categories

Wang Shih-tsung is producing dominant numbers in China’s City Baseball League. The former Fubon Guardians outfielder hit his second home run for Changsha Want Want and reached base four times in the game.

Batting third as the designated hitter against Fuzhou Strait, Wang launched a solo shot to right field in the top of the seventh inning. He finished 2-for-3 with one RBI, two walks and two stolen bases.

His performance could not prevent Changsha from suffering an 11-2 defeat. Even so, Wang has emerged as the league’s statistical leader, topping five categories: batting average at .480, on-base percentage at .567, slugging percentage at .800, hits with 12, and stolen bases with six.

Wang was selected by Fubon with the seventh pick in the 2018 Chinese Professional Baseball League draft. In 2022, he led the minor leagues in both RBIs and stolen bases. He played 42 games in Taiwan’s top league, hitting one home run with a .213 average, before Fubon released him after the 2023 season. He later joined the Taoyuan municipal baseball team and moved to China in recent years.
