Basilan security forces intensify coordination ahead of BARMM polls

Security and election officials in Basilan are tightening coordination ahead of the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections on Sept. 14, with police, military, coast guard and other agencies reviewing preparations across the province.

The Provincial Joint Security Control Center held a command conference at the Basilan Police Provincial Office in Isabela City. Commission on Elections Provincial Election Supervisor Roberto Dela Peña presided over the meeting, hosted by Basilan police director Col. Edison Dumangas.

The gathering brought together police commanders, provincial staff, chiefs of police, company commanders and representatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard and partner agencies responsible for election security.

Discussions covered security deployments, intelligence sharing, inter-agency coordination and rapid-response mechanisms. Dumangas emphasized the urgency of unified action as election day approaches, saying the priority is to allow Basilan residents to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful, safe and orderly environment. Dela Peña stressed the security partners’ role in protecting the integrity of the BARMM polls before, during and after election day.
