Basketball: Talks Underway for Jack Kayil's Return to Alba Berlin

German basketball champions Alba Berlin are actively pursuing the return of young talent Jack Kayil for the upcoming season. The club is engaged in discussions with both Kayil and his current team, KK Mega Basket of Serbia, according to Alba's Sporting Director, Himar Ojeda.

"We are talking with Jack and with Mega. We are open to discussions and are in exchange with them. That is the situation at the moment," Ojeda told rbb. The 20-year-old Kayil was a key player in Alba's championship-winning campaign last season, having previously played for the Berlin club on loan.

Alba Berlin is keen to explore possibilities for continuing the arrangement that allowed Kayil to play for them last season. However, Ojeda acknowledged that the final decision does not rest solely with Alba. Kayil's contract with KK Mega Basket is still in effect.

Adding another layer to Kayil's future, the promising guard was selected by the NBA's New York Knicks in the second round of the recent draft. It remains unclear whether the Knicks will offer him a contract for the upcoming season or prefer him to continue his development in Europe. This NBA interest adds complexity to Alba Berlin's efforts to secure his return.
