Baťa's iconic company housing recreated in Czech exhibit

Otrokovice's town hall has unveiled BaťaPoint, a temporary exhibition designed to immerse visitors in the atmosphere of 1930s company housing. The exhibit features an unoccupied brick half-house, offering a tangible experience of how a typical Bata employee's family lived during that era.

This initiative is part of Otrokovice's broader commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Tomáš Baťa's birth. Baťa, the founder of the renowned footwear empire, left a significant mark on the region, and this exhibition serves as a tribute to his legacy and the unique community he fostered.

The Baťov district, where the half-house is located, is a well-preserved example of the functionalist architecture characteristic of Baťa's planned communities. Visitors can explore the interior of the house, gaining insight into the living conditions and design principles that defined this distinctive style of corporate housing.
