Bauchi emirate confers traditional title on Jonathan

The Bauchi Emirate has bestowed the traditional title of Jigon Bauchi upon former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. The conferment ceremony took place at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi metropolis, where the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Adamu, formally presented the title.

The conferment of this title reflects the recognition of Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s contributions to the development of democracy and national unity in Nigeria.

Jonathan was honored for his significant contributions to fostering democracy, peace, and national unity within Nigeria. The Emir of Bauchi lauded Jonathan as a commendable leader, acknowledging his commitment to promoting peace and democratic values across the country. The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who led a delegation of government officials, expressed gratitude to the Emirate for recognizing the former president's efforts.

Governor Mohammed stated that the title reflects the acknowledgment of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan's role in advancing democracy and national unity. He added that Jonathan's leadership and contributions to Nigeria's development are worthy of recognition and commendation. The governor highlighted Jonathan's impact on the country's progress.

Expressing his gratitude, former President Jonathan thanked the Emir of Bauchi and the people of the state for the honor. He pledged to respect the laws and traditions of the Bauchi Emirate Council and to uphold the dignity associated with the traditional title. Jonathan assured the Emirate that he would continue to respect their values and ensure the title's prestige is maintained.
