Bauchi NUJ Applauds Governor Mohammed for Remodeling Press Center

The Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has lauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his commitment to modernizing the State Press Centre. The union expressed its appreciation for the governor's approval of the ongoing construction and his assignment of the Secretary to the State Government to supervise the project's timely completion.

In a statement, the NUJ also commended the administration's broader support for the media family, particularly the revival of state-owned media houses. This, they noted, demonstrates a commitment to creating a professional environment for journalists. The union further recalled the government's sponsorship of the first-ever Media Summit hosted by the NUJ Bauchi State Council, describing it as a landmark event that enhanced capacity, dialogue, and professionalism.

Celebrating Governor Mohammed's seven years in office, the NUJ highlighted his "purposeful leadership" and "clear footprints across every sector." They pointed to achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and youth empowerment, stating that these initiatives "continue to transform lives and restore confidence in governance." The union expressed hope for continued wisdom and strength for the governor to deliver more dividends of democracy before his term ends in 2027. Additionally, the NUJ commended the governor for respecting the operational independence of state-owned media, especially in covering opposition activities, which they see as a promotion of effective democracy.
