Bayelsa governor inaugurates new APC secretariat, hails party loyalty

Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri has officially inaugurated a new, ultramodern secretariat for the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yenagoa. Diri christened the edifice the "unity secretariat," highlighting its significance in consolidating the party's stakeholders under one roof for the first time in many years.

I like to appeal that nobody should feel side-lined as nobody came to hijack the party. For those who did not succeed in the last primaries, you are the heroes of this party as there was no winner nor loser. The only winner is the APC.

During the inauguration, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to party members who, despite not succeeding in recent primaries, have remained within the APC fold. He referred to them as the "heroes of the APC in Bayelsa" and underscored the importance of loyalty in politics, stating that their steadfast support is crucial for his leadership. He appealed for inclusivity, assuring that no member felt sidelined and that the party's recent primaries demonstrated its democratic nature.

Key party leaders present at the event, including the state APC chairman Warman Ogoriba and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, lauded Governor Diri's leadership. Ogoriba described the new secretariat as the "best political party secretariat in the country" and expressed confidence that it would foster deeper party unity and motivate members towards victory in the 2027 general election. Senator Lokpobiri echoed these sentiments, praising Diri's ability to unite the party in the state.

Other stakeholders, such as Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and Senator Konbowei Benson, also conveyed their appreciation. They noted the rapid progress of the unified APC family in the state and extended an invitation to "those on the other side" to join in advancing the state and the country. The new secretariat is envisioned as a conducive environment for party work, aiming to improve productivity and address internal issues.
