Beheira governorate prepares for weather fluctuations, issues 5 warnings

The Beheira governorate in Egypt is taking proactive measures by raising its readiness level to face anticipated weather fluctuations. Governor Dr. Jaqueline Azar has directed all executive bodies and facilities to prepare for potential impacts from the expected weather on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Forecasting agencies predict significant maritime disruption along coastal areas, including sections of Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El Sheikh, Dakahlia, Damietta, Port Said, and North Sinai. Winds are expected to range between 50 and 70 km/h along the coast, with wave heights reaching 2.5 to 4.5 meters. Inland, winds of 30 to 50 km/h are anticipated, potentially stirring up sand and dust that could reduce visibility.

Emergency response teams are being mobilized, and equipment is being positioned in areas expected to be most affected. The governorate is reviewing the readiness of relief and emergency equipment and coordinating with local units, water and sanitation companies, electricity providers, and civil defense forces to ensure swift responses to any incidents. Checks are also being conducted on lighting poles, electrical wires, transformers, billboards, and trees to mitigate risks posed by strong winds.

While a slight decrease in temperatures is expected across much of Egypt, conditions are forecast to be hot and humid during the day, especially in coastal areas. Residents are strongly advised to exercise caution and adhere to official instructions. Key warnings include avoiding standing under trees, utility poles, and billboards, and driving cautiously due to reduced visibility from sand and dust. Patients with respiratory conditions are advised to wear masks when necessary.
