Behind the Scenes of 'Slučajna obitelj': Actors Share Set Atmosphere

The set of the new Croatian dramedy series 'Slučajna obitelj' is buzzing with activity as filming progresses. Actors are diving deep into their characters, developing relationships and uncovering secrets that will soon unfold on screen. The series promises a story filled with family entanglements and surprises.

I think the atmosphere on set among the actors and the entire crew is very important, especially when you have a large number of shooting days and spend hours on set. In such an environment, good energy and mutual respect really mean a lot. So far, I've shot the most scenes with Romina, and I'm very glad that we clicked right from the start. Every time we are together on set, we have a lot of fun, we laugh a lot, and we enjoy the work.

Katarina Baban, who plays Milena Kutnjak, a kind-hearted cafe owner in the small town of Jaruga, emphasized the importance of a good atmosphere on set. "I think the atmosphere on set among the actors and the entire crew is very important, especially when you have a large number of shooting days and spend hours on set," she said. Baban highlighted her positive working relationship with co-star Romina Tonković, noting their immediate connection and shared enjoyment during scenes.

Lovro Juraga described the set as having a "very cheerful and positive atmosphere," singling out Filip Juričić as a key contributor to this energy. He also acknowledged the support from colleagues, which helps newcomers like himself adjust. Juraga admitted to feeling excitement, which he interprets as nervousness, and expressed respect for his collaborators, from whom he is learning.

The atmosphere is very cheerful and positive, and Filip Juričić definitely holds the first place in that regard. All the colleagues are helpful and assist those of us who are 'new' to settle in as best as possible. Of course, I feel nervous, but I would interpret it more as excitement. I have great respect for all the people I work with on this project, and I learn from each of them through work.

The production utilizes two studios covering 2,000 square meters, in addition to external locations. Photos from the set reveal the camaraderie and preparation involved, as well as the actors' engagement with their new roles. Romina Tonković portrays Korina, a resourceful and self-aware woman in her thirties who is tired of a difficult relationship and is new to the small town. "Korina is a character who comes to a small community and is very different from all the locals," Tonković explained. "She is very resourceful, self-aware, and understands everything. She is used to taking care of herself her whole life. That is actually what distinguishes her most from the other characters. That's why I like her very much and she is a very grateful character to play."

Tit Emanuel Medvešek plays Petar Kiša, a young man still finding his way in life. His character becomes involved in a plotline as the supposed son of Korina and Vito, leading to comedic situations. "My character's name is Petar Kiša, and I can say that he is still finding himself in life. I identify with him somewhat because I am also in a similar situation," Medvešek shared. Filip Juričić plays Vito Haranga, a man whose seemingly comfortable life takes a significant turn due to unforeseen circumstances. "He embarks on a completely new and unknown life, and there we see that he is brave and courageous, that he knows how to use his charm and sympathy," Juričić stated.
