Beipu Road Race Medal Puzzle Completes Final Stage This Year

The picturesque Beipu Township in Hsinchu County is set to host the "2026 Beipu Pengfeng Road Race Carnival" on October 24. This year's event holds special significance as it culminates a unique three-year "puzzle medal" initiative, designed to engage runners and celebrate the region's rich Hakka culture.

Runners who have participated in the event for three consecutive years, from 2024 to 2026, will be able to assemble their three medals into a complete "one heart, two leaves" design. This motif represents the iconic tea culture of Beipu, a region known for its scenic landscapes and the famous "nine winds." To commemorate this final stage, the township office is providing a special wooden storage box for participants who complete the series.

The carnival offers multiple race options to cater to different fitness levels. These include a half-marathon (21 kilometers), a 10-kilometer "health group," and a 5-kilometer "leisure group." A "sustainable group" is also included, encouraging participants to actively support environmental conservation efforts.

Adding an international flair, the mayor of Fukuokaken Toyotsunashi City, Japan, Mr. Ken Nishimoto, is expected to participate. The race route itself is designed to showcase Beipu's natural beauty and cultural landmarks, starting from the old street and passing by attractions like the Baoer Reservoir and Beipu Cold Spring. Participants who conquer the challenging "devil's slope" will be rewarded with stunning views of the reservoir and local Hakka settlements.

In addition to the puzzle medals, participants will receive a range of race premiums, including moisture-wicking shirts, towels, headbands, and local food souvenirs. Early bird registrants for the 5km leisure group will also receive a sports towel.
