Bekkevoort wastewater treatment plant construction on schedule: 'Wastewater from families to be collected and treated'

The construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Bekkevoort is progressing on schedule and is in its final stages. This significant infrastructure project aims to address the long-standing issue of untreated wastewater being discharged into local ditches.

Once operational, the plant will be responsible for collecting and treating wastewater originating from households in both Bekkevoort and a portion of Kortenaken. This development is crucial as a substantial amount of domestic wastewater, approximately 60 percent, currently flows directly into the environment without undergoing any purification process.

The project's completion marks a critical step towards improving environmental quality and public health in the region. By ensuring that wastewater is properly treated before release, the plant will help reduce pollution in local waterways and mitigate potential health risks associated with untreated sewage.
