Belgium Issues Heat Alert as Temperatures Approach 35°C

Belgium is bracing for a significant heatwave, with temperatures predicted to soar as high as 35°C on Wednesday. The national meteorological institute has issued a heat alert for the entire country.

Temperatures are expected to range from 30-32°C in the Ardennes and along the coast, climbing to 32-34°C in other areas. The hottest conditions, reaching up to 35°C, are anticipated along the French border and in the Campine region. A light to moderate south to southwest wind will accompany the heat.

Overnight, temperatures will drop to between 15-21°C with a weak southerly wind. Thursday will see continued sunshine, though cumulus clouds may develop inland, potentially bringing isolated thunderstorms to the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg. Maximum temperatures will decrease slightly, ranging from 23°C at the seaside to 32°C in Campine.

While temperatures are forecast to dip below 30°C on Friday and Saturday, the yellow heat alert will remain in effect nationwide, except for the coast, until Sunday.
