Belgrade maple tree 'temporarily moved' for film shoot

A maple tree in central Belgrade, initially reported to have been cut down for a film shoot, has been temporarily relocated. Representatives from the film production clarified that the tree was carefully removed with its roots and will be replanted in its original location once filming concludes.

Aleksandar Dedakin, representing the film production, explained that the relocation was agreed upon with residents of nearby buildings. He noted that the tree was assessed to be in poor condition due to recent dry weather. "In agreement with experts, we removed it today with its roots intact and will preserve it until Wednesday morning when, after filming is completed, we will replant it and return it to its original state," Dedakin told N1.

For the needs of filming, we agreed with the neighbors from the surrounding buildings to temporarily move the maple tree, which, honestly, according to the assessment of the people who came today and replanted it, is in very bad condition due to the drought that has been in the past few weeks. In agreement with experts, we removed it today with its roots and will preserve it until Wednesday morning when we will replant it and return it to its original state after filming is completed.

Should the maple tree not survive the drought and high temperatures, Dedakin assured that the production would provide a new tree of the same size, dimensions, and type. He also mentioned that the damaged fencing around the tree would be repaired and restored to improve its appearance.

Furthermore, the graffiti visible on building facades are temporary set decorations. "We apply foil to the building facade and draw our graffiti on that foil. When we finish filming, that foil will be removed, and underneath, the facade will be in its original condition as it was this morning," Dedakin explained. The film production will bear all associated costs.
