Benue APC chairman visits attack-hit communities, appeals for peace

Benjamin Omale, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, has appealed for peace and calm following recent attacks in the Benue South Senatorial District. Omale visited several affected communities, including Otukpo Nobi, Efuyi Ugboju, Olahimu, Ankpechi, and Ondo Ugboju, which experienced killings and injuries.

During his visit on Saturday, Omale condemned the violence, the destruction of property, and all forms of attacks against citizens. He acknowledged the pain, fear, and trauma experienced by the residents of the impacted areas. Omale urged the people to restrain from any form of retaliation or revenge, emphasizing that no one should take the law into their own hands.

Let me appeal to our people to remain calm and peaceful, let us restrain from any form of retaliation or revenge, let no one take laws into their hands.

Omale encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could help avert future attacks. He also commended the security agencies for their sacrifices and urged them to be more vigilant in apprehending the perpetrators to ensure justice is served. The APC chairman called for stronger collaboration among all levels of government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders, youths, and communities to foster peace in the region.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for their efforts in ensuring the security of Nigerians. Omale extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities, praying for the repose of the deceased and comfort for their loved ones. He also donated relief materials to the victims to help alleviate the impact of the attacks.
