Beretta unveils new drone-killing weapon system

Beretta Defense Technologies is set to unveil a novel counter-drone system at the upcoming Eurosatory 2026 exhibition in Paris. The new automated weapon station, named Livet, is a collaborative development with Italian technology firm DUALEE and is specifically engineered for operations against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Livet system is built upon Benelli's Drone Guardian platform, which features semi-automatic shotguns firing programmable airburst ammunition. This approach is designed to overcome the challenges of targeting small, agile drones that often evade conventional rifle or burst fire. The logic is that a shotgun firing multiple projectiles, especially those programmed to detonate at a calculated distance, significantly increases the chance of a successful hit with each trigger pull.

Mounted on the Livet platform are eight Benelli Drone Guardian systems. This multi-barreled configuration, controlled remotely, is intended for the protection of fixed locations and critical infrastructure. The system incorporates sensors, software, and DUALEE's technology to enable rapid detection and engagement of drone threats.

Developed in response to the escalating threat posed by drones, particularly in light of recent conflicts, the Livet system offers an advanced kinetic counter-drone solution. Its modular design allows for versatile deployment, whether protecting infrastructure, mounted on vehicles, or serving as a standalone defensive position. The system's ability to automate target tracking aims to simplify the neutralization of small drones for operators.
