Berlin police officer caught speeding to work, loses license

A Berlin police officer is facing consequences after being caught speeding excessively on his way to duty. The officer, riding his motorcycle on the A113 highway in the Johannisthal district, was observed by colleagues traveling at "apparently heavily excessive speeds."

Police reported that they activated their emergency lights and pursued the two motorcyclists, including the officer, but struggled to catch up. Shortly after the Johannisthal Chaussee exit, both riders were forced to brake sharply due to increasing traffic.

Upon catching up, officers identified one of the motorcyclists as a Berlin police officer en route to his shift. The other rider was identified as a 23-year-old man. Both individuals had their driver's licenses seized and were charged with illegal vehicle racing.

This incident highlights a lapse in judgment by the officer, who is now subject to disciplinary action and legal proceedings alongside the other speeder.
